The duo Zaświatycze, composed of Anna Jurkiewicz and Paula Kinaszewska, will perform melodies from the near and far surroundings of Kolano village in Polesie Lubelskie. The concert at OKO marks the premiere of the project, a unique artistic undertaking to which Zaświatycze have invited performer, scenographer, and visual artist Adrianna Iwanejko, as well as composer and sound director Bartłomiej Woźniak.
Adrianna Iwanejko will attempt to uncover the visual layer hidden within the songs — to capture and highlight their meaning through light, shadow, and performative gestures. She describes her work as follows: “My artistic practice grows out of a need to work with memory — that which is inscribed in objects, spaces, and fragments of stories, but also in music, songs, and language. At the heart of my actions lies attentiveness to the local context.” Adrianna will also join Zaświatycze as a guest vocalist.
Bartłomiej Woźniak will transform signals from the afterworld into live electronic music. As he says: “I’m interested in space within music — and music within space.” He will play traditional instruments, accompanying Paula, who performs instrumental melodies from Polesie on the violin.

Wielogłosy
Zaświatycze – a Journey to the Afterworlds Along a Narrow Road. At dusk, we pass by the local fire station, evoking familiar voices and words from times long gone. Or perhaps those other worlds dwell within us, waiting to be brought forth through songs that hang between this world and the next? In our own tongue — as our grandmothers spoke — in many languages. And maybe an old everyday object can become a time machine?
